CBC
Cyclic block copolymer — Next-generation copolymer offering high clarity and straight-line easy tear. Improves the opening experience in consumer packaging.
Technical view
What is CBC and what is it for?
CBC is a styrenic block copolymer combining cyclic and linear blocks. Added into a film it makes tear propagate along a defined direction, so the pack opens in a straight, controlled line from the notch. Unlike conventional oriented films this behaviour needs no extra stretching process.
The same material gives high clarity, low haze and good dimensional stability, so it is also used where optical expectations are high. In medical packaging its low extractables and sterilisation resistance come to the fore.
- Straight-line easy tear
- High clarity, low haze
- No extra orientation process needed
- Suitable for medical packaging
